Hello, single moms!

I recently weathered a challenge with, you guessed it, my daughter's father. He was really creating some challenges around here for a couple of weeks and for about half a minute I got upset. Then I realized the situation would play out the way all previous challenging situations would play out, and I got back to business as usual.

I think that was the lesson I needed to learn: challenges come and go ... don't get so upset about them!

Looking at the bookcase in my office, I have 19 signed copies of The Successful Single Mom book that I'm ready to give away.

For a chance at your free copy (I'll even mail it to you, no charge), write a comment about a challenge you survived and have come through with flying colors - and what the lesson was for you.

I'll be announcing the winners on Monday, March 1st, so please submit your entries by Sunday, February 28th at 8 p.m. Eastern.

Once you've created your plan, take a deep breath! Congratulations is in order just for following through and taking the time to envision your future!

Take a moment to breathe, relax and just enjoy this moment. You are in a moment of creation! Whoo hoo!

Here's the truth: you've gotten to today, whether you had a plan or not. You might like where you are now, or not. This is I know for sure: there's always another level of our mental, spiritual and inner-self development. You may not want more (or maybe you do), and I do know you want the best you can get for your kids and yourself. One of the easiest ways to get there from here is to have a plan and work that plan!

Mental preparation is one of the key elements in a well-executed 100-day Plan. Take about 30 minutes, pull out your plan and review your top 3 goals. Write a paragraph for each goal answering the following:

  • I must achieve this goal because:
  • What I will get from achieving this goal:
  • What will I give up to achieve this goal:
  • Why is this goal worth what I will get and give up:
  • I'm worthy of achieving this goal because:
  • I will feel ______ when I achieve this goal!
  • I will reward myself with  _________ when I achieve this goal.

Once you complete these questions, attach them to your 100-Day Plan and submit them to me (email: honoree-at-corpron-dot-com or call my office for my fax number). One lucky winner will receive free 1-on-1 coaching with me for 100 days (that's 8 20-30 minute sessions ~ a value of $7500), as well as a copy of The Successful Single Mom Cooks cookbook when its released this Fall. Get started now ... submissions must be made by Thursday, April 30th. The winner will be chosen (when else?) on Mother's Day.

Good luck! Here's to your single mom success!

One thing I have always tried to do (somewhat unsuccessfully) is feed my daughter healthy, nutritious sack-lunches and dinners. For the first couple of years I was a single mom, dinners consisted of a protein shake for me, and one of the following for my daughter: (1) mac & cheese, (2) beans and wieners, (3) pb & j or ... see 1, 2 or 3. (We also frequented the McDonald's drive through when I was particularly desperate, but after I saw Super Size Me, I just can't bring myself to go there.)

I would arrive home, late evening, starving with a starving child, practically ready to eat paper! Every time I made one of the above "dinners" I felt unimpressed with myself, and I knew I certainly wasn't going to win any Mom of the Year Contests! Solution? Quick and easy recipes that taste great, are good for you and your kids, and don't require a certificate from Le Cordon Bleu.

The next book will be The Successful Single Mom Cooks Dinner (Fall, 2009), written by yours truly and nationally-recognized food writer Grace Bascos. The recipes all have 7 ingredients or less, and take less than 20 minutes from start-to-on-the-table.

I'm looking for more quick, nutritious and delicious recipes to share with our fellow single moms. If you have a recipe to share, kindly post it in the comment section or send it to me directly at honoree {at} corpron {dot} com. If your recipe is chosen by our cooks and their young taste-testers, you'll be given credit in the book and a free copy. The recipes must have 7 or fewer ingredients, and ready in 20 minutes or less ... be sure to include complete instructions.

Categories: General, Vegetarian, Gluten-Free, Snacks, Lunches for School, Crock Pot, Comfort Foods, Desserts and many more.

Thank you in advance for what I know will be lots of yummy suggestions!
